Susan and I had a wonderful time in Stari Grad today. We are already experiencing grief about leaving this wonderful culture. Today, we met with a small contingent of travelers from Iowa who are cruising the Adriatic. We had heard about their arrival from the University of Iowa Alumni Office. This afternoon, we set up a small Hawkeye flag at a table at our favorite Kotor cafe, A's. Our new friends arrived and we enjoyed sharing local foods and beverages with them. It was a memorable experience to welcome fellow Hawkeyes to Montenegro.
After a great encounter, we parted company. In a few hours, our newly acquired friends were on their way. Susan and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing this time with them and discussing our experiences in this wonderful culture.

I am a university professor with interests in the relationship of food and culture. I am also a Fulbright Scholar and will deploy to Montenegro in September, 2014 where I will collaborate in teaching and learning about food and culture as well as food tourism. This blog is dedicated to sharing my experiences in Montenegro with you. It is also dedicated to my son Chad who mixes artistry and savvy in teaching people how to bake bread and make pizza.
